CAROL FINNELL

AGE 65

JOB Retired Jefferson County Public School cafeteria worker; caretaker for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol Finnell and her husband Buddy are looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Carol’s style is casual and simple, fitting for such retirement events like sipping tea in the sunroom, family and church gatherings on Sundays, or running after grandchildren.

PERSONAL STYLE

“Since I am retired I’m casual most of the time. On Sundays and special events I mix slacks with a little jacket and a blouse and mostly comfortable shoes. I like low-heeled shoes in case I have my grandchildren with me. I don’t have to worry about going up and down the steps to the nursery.”

ON SHOPPING

“If I see something that I like in an ad, I go in to look at it and see if it’s something that fits my style.”

EXERCISE AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Carol uses a treadmill, stair stepper, and stationery bike about three times a week or whenever she can carve out the time. She enjoys walking and riding her bicycle during the summer.

SPIRITUALITY

“I have a church family, and we are very close. They pray for me and I pray for them, and they have gotten us through a lot.”

ON FUN

“My husband and I like to ride our
motorcycle. We’ve been riding for six years and like to go on short day trips.” On these trips Carol wears her leather jacket, and she and Buddy always wear a helmet. Buddy is trying to convince her to ride to Florida.

AGING

“I haven’t given that a lot of thought. Just have a positive attitude and appreciate life and your family.”

SHE WON’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT...

Lipstick. “I feel like I have to have it on before I go out.”

WHAT FLATTERS  HER SENSE OF STYLE

“My daughters wear lots of the same things that I wear. That’s flattering.”

LOOKING-GOOD ADVICE

“Don’t make your style complicated.”
