Personal Style
She defines her style as trendy, but uniquely elegant. “My style is conservatively trendy.”

On Dressing
“I love Chico wear. I love the fact that you can just roll it up, unroll it, put it on and you’re just perfect. I wear long dresses and skirts. I love basic things that I  can accessorize. I like tried and true pieces that will last forever.” Other wardrobe staples include scarves, shawls and jewelry.

On her favorite places to shop
“Chico’s at the Summit or Mall St. Matthews. I do a lot of consignment shopping for accessories. I like looking for unique accessories. It may not be brand new, but it’s brand new to me.”

Her color palette
“I love earth tones…browns, burnt oranges, dark blues. I love black. Many people may look at that as negative, but I feel empowered when I wear black. I can always put black on and feel like I am ready for whatever. Whether I have an appointment, a meeting, or I have to run somewhere after work, I feel confident that I will be dressed for the occasion.”

Fashion tips
“I walk with a posture that demonstrates strength and confidence. I believe that’s what we have to do in this particular age group. You still have to carry yourself with a sense of confidence.”

How her sense of style has changed
“It really hasn’t changed a lot. I’ve never been very flamboyant with clothing, but over the years I’ve become more confident in my style. I don’t want to dress like someone in their 20s or 30s, but at the same time I am not ready to put on a pair of sweats.”

Holistic health
“Health is very important to me. When I think of health I think of not only being physically fit for appearance, but being preventive of many diseases. Physical exercise is definitely essential; however, we need to make sure we are emotionally grounded. Thoughts drive a lot of our behaviors and can contribute to a lot of stress in our lives. I strive to make sure that the thoughts I’m thinking are healthy ones.”

She won’t leave the house without...
“I love lip gloss. If my lips are on, I am ready to go.”

All about attitude
“I have a very strong faith. I am very active in my church, and I believe it’s my driving force. It keeps me grounded, it keeps me aware of who I am and my purpose in life. At this point in time in my life I am where I am supposed to be. As long as I’m blessed to be able to do, I must continue to do.”
